fear—it’s in everyone, everywhere
Everybody, all around the world, has fear. It doesn’t matter how old or young, how strong or weak you are, you still have fear. There’s always something or someone you fear—either it’s a bully or an octopus, fear is in everyone in every form. So the question is, why do we have fear? Why are we all scared of something? Wouldn’t it be a better world if we aren’t frightened by others and things. Take a bully, for example. I’m sure that everyone is scared of a bully—the one that teases, insults, and makes fun of. But why are we scared of one kid (or adult)? A bully is just a word for someone who is mean. If we look closer to the bully, he/she is scared of us too, except they are good at hiding it. Fear gives us the emotions of anxiety and causes us to sweat so much that the 80% of the water in our body decrease to 0%. Fear makes us do foolish things that we shouldn’t do. We all react to fear differently. I don’t know how everyone else acts, but I know how I act and it’s definitely not something to be proud of at all. I should be able to face my fear and fight it. Tell it that I am NOT afraid of it and that I will fight it (figuratively speaking, of course) if I have to. But I cannot. Because the reason we have fear is because we are too scared to face up to it. And if you think about it, if we don’t have fears, where’s the fun in our life? If we didn’t have fear, we wouldn’t be growing, characteristically speaking. We all learn and grow from our fears (once you get over it I mean) so if we didn’t have fear, what would we learn and grow from? Besides, if we didn’t have fear, we wouldn’t learn from our foolishness and we wouldn’t grow stronger. Here is my list of top five fears:
- Death
- Animal Extinction
- The fading of our atmosphere
- Guns and Wars
- ???
I haven’t decided my fear #5, but I am pretty sure it’s bugs. Bugs pretty much scare the soul out of me. They are so gross and creepy that I shudder whenever I see one crawling my way. All my fears are pretty much based up on our planet. I guess it’s because they all are part of my number 1 fear: death.
Fear | Comment (1)is it my passion?
Currently, for the past two weeks (or it might have been three weeks) I have made two scrapbook pages displaying two of my closest friends. Although my work isn’t nearly as good as a ‘professional’s’ artwork, I am very proud of what I had created because 1) the ideas came from my head and 2) it was my own two hands that had created them. For me, it takes at least one to two weeks to finish a page because I only work on them during Saturdays and Sundays or just not at all. I do not have time during the weekdays to make them because either I am studying for a test or doing homework or I am just too plain lazy. I need to learn how not to be lazy and get things done if I want to improve and learn how to make scrapbooks. Sometimes even when I have enough time, I do not bother to bring out the materials and make a scrapbook page. So, I wonder, if I am too lazy to make scrapbooks, does that consider as my ‘passion’? I like to make scrapbook pages; cut paper, paste pictures, and decorate with all such items. In www.dictionary.referenece.com, passion means the desire to do something. Often with scrapbooks, I have the ‘desire’ to make them, but there are more times when I am too neglectful to do it. I want to keep on making scrapbooks because it is something I like to do, but I am not sure that it is part of my passion. To be truthful, I spend more time drawing then I spend making scrapbooks, so is drawing my passion or scrapbooking my passion?
Scrapbooking | Comment (0)what is your definiton of Freedom of Speech?
As stated in the United States Constitution, Freedom of Speech is a right granted to everyone in the world, unless of course someone abuses the right. When I break down the words of Freedom of Speech, like we did in History class although with our questions, I’d come up with ‘Freedom’ and ‘Speech.’ Freedom basically is the ability to do what we please. In www.dictionary.reference.com, it states and I quote, “The condition of being free of restraints.” It means that we are free to do what we like to do and what we want to do. The word ‘speech’ means the act of speaking. So basically Freedom of Speech means the condition of being free to speak as we wish. My definition of Freedom of Speech is the right to say what you please but there are limits to this. We can express our selves, ideas, feelings, thoughts as long as we are not threatening, harming, or offending anyone else. “Freedom of Speech is basic to the existence of respect of human dignity.” We can say anything we want to, because it is what we believe in, but there are times when someone doesn’t agree with you. Just because someone doesn’t agree with you or thinks your idea is ridiculous, it is not the end of the world. People have different perspectives of things and some people refuse to believe in anything but their ideas. And this is all okay as long as no one exceeds over the limit by being hurtful or mean. I believe that Freedom of Speech is a very important right (well, all the rights in the Constitution are important). Without the Freedom of Speech, we may not be able to say what we like and we may not be able to put out our opinions for others to hear. If we didn’t say what we wanted to, then we’d be living in a world of lies. Our world would be very un-candid, because we are always ‘posing’ and not saying what are really on our minds.
Ms. Rumford's Questions | Comments (4)material$ for $crapbooking
For some people, scrapbooking may be hard and complicated. What happened to the “you only need your creativeness and effort in order to make a scrapbook”? At first, when I decided to start on a new hobby as scrapbooking, I thought it’d be easy. Now I am not so sure. Scrapbooking requires organization, which is not my strongest skill. First of all, I am required to buy some necessary items for the scrapbook. Here is a list of materials I need:
1. an album or an artbook
2. a double-sided tape. A doubler-sided tape-pen is more efficent and clean to use.
3. photos.
4. and anything that you could use to decorate.
All these materials are available from Multiplaza, Office Depot, and at your house. You can buy an album or an artbook and some papers and fabrics from Multiplaza. A double-sided tape is located in Office Depot along with other tapes. But most things can be found at your house. Last week, while cleaning my room, I found things that could be useful for scrapbooking. Now that my hobby is scrapbooking, whenever someone is about to throw something, I yell, “No, wait, don’t throw that away! I need it for my scrapbooking!” Although my mom finds this very annoying, I still tell her to check with me everytime she intends to throw something away. Other than going through trash, there are ways to find materials at your house. If you are a girl, you might have had bags from childhood. You can use those bags by cutting the fabric off and using them for your advantage. However, if you don’t have anything at all in your house because you throw everything away, I recommend you to go shopping in LibroMax. There are papers and fabrics that you can buy from LibroMax. From LibroMax I’ve also brought banana paper and coffee paper, which have become very useful to my scrapbook. You can also buy things from art stores and thrift stores.
Scrapbooking | Comment (0)~what is my passion~!?
“Write about your passion,” Ms. Rumford had said to us when we were first introduced to Edublogs. I had thought that answering this question would be easy, but over Semana Santa, I had worried and fretted over what my passion is. What did I like to do, I had asked myself. There are three answers for that: art, photography, and writing. It is hard to choose only one, and I had thought of doing all three, but I knew that it was impossible. It wasn’t until two days before school was starting again (Saturday) that I found the solution to my problem. A scrapbook. I have never tried to make a scrapbook before and I don’t know if I’ll like this new hobby of mine, but I am willing to try it out.
I have researched on the Internet to find more about how to create a scrapbook. There were a lot of guides and tips for the beginners like me. For anyone who are also interested in starting on a scrapbook, here are some websites that are very helpful, or at least they were for me:
